Conditions of Carriage
Mevagissey Rib Rides is operated by Mevagissey Ferries with the same conditions of carriage. Please tap the button below to access the document.
These additional terms apply to bookings of the Rib.
To make a booking on a scheduled trip, the easiest way is via this website. You can also turn up at the time you wish to travel - after checking that we are running according to the timetable - and if there are spaces available on the boat and you are fit to travel you will be able to go on a trip.
We accept cash or cards on board.
Payment
When booking in advance you must pay in full to reserve your seat on the boat. You can pay by credit or debit card.
Confirmation
We will send you a confirmation email with details of your booking. Please be ready to show this as proof of your booking when boarding. The confirmation email also contains important information relating to your booking and links to cancel or reschedule your trip.
Late arrivals
Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to boarding to allow time to park and embark the boat. We leave on time so as not to inconvenience other passengers so if you are late you we cannot wait for you and you will be marked as a no show. We cannot refund your trip if you arrive late and the boat has left.
Cancellations
By you: you can reschedule your booking at any time by clicking the relevant button in your confirmation email. If you need to cancel entirely, please do so more than 24 hours before your trip. We will refund you but be aware that we will charge a 10% administration fee. If you cancel within 24 hours we cannot refund you.
By us: We reserve the right to cancel a trip if viable numbers are not reached or due to adverse weather conditions or circumstances beyond our control. If we cannot offer a suitable alternative a full refund will be given.
Personal belongings
We cannot be held responsible for your personal belongings while on a trip. Please dress appropriately and bring as little as possible. Ensure that valuable items such as phones and cameras are securely stowed.
Insurance
We are covered to the sum of £3,000,000 for third party liability.
Health & safety
Rib rides are an adventurous trip and the seas around St Austell Bay can be bumpy - you will get wet! It’s important that you satisfy yourself that you, and any guests you have booked for, are fit to travel. Here is some general guidance but if you are in any doubt, please consult a medical practitioner before booking.
Back/neck conditions: the ride is bumpy and therefore unlikely to be suitable for a person with significant back pain or injury.
Pregnancy: please take advice depending on the term of your pregnancy before booking.
Mobility: we are here to help people as much as possible so those with limited mobility can travel with us, but those with profoundly reduced mobility may find getting in and out of the boat very difficult.
Other medical conditions: if you have any medical condition such as heart disease or neurological conditions or anything other condition where you have been advised against adventure sports, these trips are probably not safe for you.
Alcohol/drugs: we strongly advise not attempting to travel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If the skipper on the day believes you are intoxicated you may be refused to travel and will not be given a refund. Alcohol or drugs must not be consumed on board.
We reserve the right to refuse travel to anyone who we feel is not fit for any reason.
